About Course
The Practice Ready Assessment program in British Columbia is designed to allow internationally trained family physicians to demonstrate their clinical competence and transition into practice in underserved communities within the province.
The program provides an alternative pathway to traditional licensing examinations for eligible international medical graduates with significant clinical experience in family medicine.
Eligibility for the PRA BC program typically requires a recognized medical degree listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, postgraduate training in family medicine or equivalent, recent independent clinical practice in family medicine, and verification of professional registration in the country of previous practice. Applicants must demonstrate recent clinical experience and meet professional standards required by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through recognized examinations. Acceptable results include IELTS Academic scores of at least 7 in each component or Occupational English Test results with a minimum grade of B in each section.
The PRA BC pathway involves a structured clinical field assessment conducted over approximately twelve weeks under supervision in a clinical setting.
Physicians are evaluated on their clinical competence, patient management skills, communication abilities, and adherence to Canadian medical practice standards. Physicians who successfully complete the PRA BC assessment are generally required to complete a return of service commitment in rural or underserved communities within British Columbia.
This commitment typically lasts for three years and allows physicians to gain full licensure while supporting healthcare delivery in regions with physician shortages. Candidates entering the PRA BC pathway typically receive employment support from health authorities which allows them to apply for a Canadian work permit. Many physicians also pursue permanent residence through immigration programs while working in Canada.
Our organization provides full assistance with the PRA BC pathway including eligibility evaluation, application preparation, employer communication, and job search support. The initial enrollment fee for this pathway is 500 USD.
After a confirmed job offer or employment placement is secured, a professional service fee ranging between 2000 USD and 8000 USD may apply depending on the employment contract and salary package.
Our organization has assisted numerous healthcare professionals in securing international career opportunities. Through careful guidance, transparent processes and professional support we continue to help doctors navigate complex licensing and immigration systems and successfully establish medical careers abroad.
